HOW WE DO IT
Our approach is to use elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM), Literature and Cooking techniques to educate and encourage curiosity about food, nutrition and health
WHAT WE DO
Develop customized need-based food, nutrition and physical activity solutions for schools, conduct innovative and engaging hands-on STEAM based food, nutrition and health workshops for children and families, provide nutrition expertise/consultation services to health and nutrition centered organizations and engage in research collaborations with universities. The goal is to promote food and nutrition literacy that will translate to improving eating habits, decreasing overweight and obesity, and enhancing overall health.
Typically 45 to 60 minute hands-on, workshop style lessons for classroom size groups of students. They can be done in-school or at after-school care centers. Programs are tailored to student grade level and are aimed to align with MA STEM curriculum frameworks/Next Generation Science Standards.
FAMILY AND COMMUNITY
Interactive presentations, exhibit style demonstrations, hands-on activities, that meet the needs of food, nutrition and wellness education at museums, science festivals, and community centers such as the YMCA.
Work with schools to develop nutrition and physical activity initiatives, write grants, provide resources to improve school health and wellness
Collaborate with colleagues in nutrition research to develop and study the impact of FANSE Kids nutrition curriculum on eating habits, food choices and in the long term
