Online/Virtual Pilot Session (Apr 23 to May 21, 2020)
The pandemic forced FANSE kids to go virtual and we ran our first session with a small group of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. Session topics included,

-
Viruses - We learnt about viruses (including what is know about COVID-19) and built our own model of a virus. We also discussed and did a hands-on exploration to learn how long viruses can last on surfaces and the scientific concept of washing hands with soap!

-
Water - Did you know that up to 60% of the human body is made up of water? We learnt about how water is regulated in our body through an osmosis experiment.

-
Sugar - Are all sugars the same? Our hands-on exploration delved into understanding sugar structures and how they are different in terms of how our body digests them. We also analyzed packaged foods in our pantry for added sugar and kept a 3-day dietary record of our average added sugar intake.

All our sessions included fun games such as food-themed scavenger hunt & hopscotch with a twist!
